WHD Alfa-Max Plus is a highly attractive perennial blend that is super-packed with protein. It is made up of two different Alfalfa strands that deer absolutely crave: chicory and a small amount of perennial clover. The chicory is a great deer browse and it helps to keep the moisture in the soil. The clover is to give the plot diversity and to fill in open areas where the soil is not as well drained. WHD Alfa-Max will be most attractive to deer from spring to the first frost in the fall. For this blend to reach its maximum potential, it needs to be planted in well-drained soils with plenty of sunshine and a PH of around 6.5. In the Spring, you can plant WHD Afla-Max Plus by itself or with Oats. Or you can plant it in fall with a lite cover crop like WHD Brassica Blend or Oats. The reason for the cover crop is to help ensure that the young, lush growth doesn’t get too much browse pressure.
